1900 – 1904
Durante cuatro largos años Picasso pintó sólo cuadros monocromáticos de tonos, variaciones y sombras del azul. Esta etapa de su obra es conocida como el “periodo azul”.
Se inició en España, después de que su amigo Carlos Casagemas se suicidara en la primavera de 1901, pero se desarrolló principalmente en Paris.

Esta elaboración catártica del duelo trajo consigo, además del preponderante azul, a prostitutas, mendigos y borrachos como personajes frecuentes de las pinturas.

105 años después Peter Bjorn and John realizan, desde Stockholm, una mirada psicológica profunda acerca de cómo es que se siente y se percibe una pintura del “periodo azul” de Picasso en relación a las demás.
